Straight answers about children and AI. No sales pitch — the answer comes first, and you can decide what to do with it.

• At what age should a child start learning AI?

  Around ages 10 to 12 — Class 5 or 6 — is when most children can genuinely reason about how AI works, rather than only operate it. Before that, a child can use AI tools happily and get useful results, but rarely stops to ask whether the answer is right.

• Is ChatGPT safe for a 12-year-old?

  Strictly, no: OpenAI's own terms set a minimum age of 13, and users under 18 are meant to have parental permission. A 12-year-old using ChatGPT on their own account is outside those rules.

• Will AI classes affect my child's school studies?

  Done well, no — and it often helps. An AI programme that runs once or twice a week, in short sessions, adds a couple of hours to a child's week and mostly exercises reasoning skills that school is already asking for.

• What does an AI curriculum for CBSE schools include?

  Four things, and a programme missing any of them is a workshop series rather than a curriculum: a sequence long enough that each class builds on the last, projects the students actually make, assessment the school can report to parents and management, and training for the teachers who will run it.

• How does a school start AI classes for Class 5–10?

  Start with one age band, one period a week, for a term. Not a whole-school rollout, and not a launch event.
